Llegaron los Oscar con su cargada de sorpresas que cada año nos tiene reservado. Ganadores inesperado y perdedores esperados. Películas que se esperaban que ganaran y otras que rompieron toda quiniela. La polémica de Argo terminó llevándose el principal premio a mejor película y Life of Pi fue la gran sorpresa al llevarse varios Oscars en los renglones técnicos y uno de los principales contra todo pronóstico, como mejor director. Inclusive hubo un empate en un Oscar en la categoría a mejor edición de sonido. Todo esto en una ceremonia que rindió tributo a la música en el cine y que parecía más que nada tributo a los grandes musicales de Hollywood. Todo esto conducido por el anfitrión Seth MacFarlane que tuvo claroscuros en toda su participacion en la ceremonia.
